Sadiq Shirazi was born in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, in 20.12.1360 H (Islamic calendar). He belonged to a distinguished family rooted in Islamic sciences and literature. The Shirazi family has produced many scholars and Marja’s (The Marja of Taqleed are clerics that have the authority to declare fatwas and decrees into all matters of Islamic jurisprudence. Only several exist at any given time) as well as leaders. Two of the best-known leaders are Grand Ayatollah Mirza Hassan Shirazi, leader of the constitutional, also known as the Tobacco Movement in Iran, and Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Taqi Shirazi(?), leader of the 1920 revolution in Iraq, which liberated Iraq from colonial powers. The Shirazi’s father, the late Grand Ayatollah Mehdi Shirazi, had been a famous and a highly respected scholar and the Marja’ of his time. They were descendants of the Islamic prophet Muhammad as a Sayyid. Grand Ayatollah Imam Muhammad Al-Shirazi died in 2001. Sadiq Shirazi vowed to totally dedicate himself to seeking knowledge, and adhere in all aspects of life to piety and good deed, serving the cause of Ahl-ul-Bayt alayhum-as-salam and defending their holy teachings. His excellence in Fiqh, Usul and other Islamic science gave him particular prominence amongst the eminent scholars of today.
Sadiq Shirazi continued the Hawza which his brother Mohammed Shirazi established after he died in 2001.
Sadiq Shirazi has written many books. Some directed to Ulema and Mujtahids. Others directed to the general public.
Many of Sayed Sadiq’s Shirazi’s books were translated to Persian, Urdu and English to help and educate a wider range of followers which are not fortunate in reading and understanding the Arabic Language.
These are some of Sadiq Shirazi’s extinguished and eminent teachers which helped him attain a distinguished degree of Ijtihaad.
Sadiq Shirazi has established various Institutions across Iran. He has established libraries, Hussainiyat, schools and many more, to help spread the message of Islam as efficiently as possible.
